Claire's 40th Birthday

It's not just little people who celebrate their special day with us at Eastnor Pottery. Claire and nine of her friends joined us after work to mark her 40th Birthday.

The girls opted for our two hour evening session, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As well as making a collaborative jug encrusted with clay flowers, made by each party goer, the girls took turns on the potter's wheel. They also produced and painted individual coilpots on a 'garden' theme.
Their masterpieces will be fired, glazed and ready to be picked up from the studio in a couple of weeks. If you would like a totally unique experience to mark that special occasion, please call 01531 633 886 to discuss your ideas.

Ashton Under Hill Nursery

Work continues a pace on the mud play area at Ashton Under Hill Nursery. The children have been busy this week transporting a tonne of clay in their toy wheelbarrows. In the same session, they were able to use straw, mud, clay and lots of water to produce the dobey. Great fun was had by 'slapping' the mixture on to the various structures.

Vin & Connie's Masterpieces

Vin & Connie dropped by this week to pick up their lovely pots they made here in February. (See blog entry date Sunday 22nd February)

Mud Fun at Playgroup

I've been having great fun working with Ashton Under Hill pre-school, to develop their outside play space. The intention is to build, amongst others things, a mud pit, earth sofa and Mega marble run, all constructed from natural materials, and incorporating ceramic elements designed and made by the children and their carers. It's very much a participatory project with staff, children and parents all getting stuck in - sometimes quite literally. Anyone for clay freckles?!

Recent Birthdays at Eastnor Pottery

Birthday girl Lauren displaying her clay rabbit. Lauren and her fellow party goers chose 'colourful critters' as her theme. There's no doubt that Lauren's rabbit has been a good bunny and eaten all its 'see in the dark' carrots!

Sam (centre, holding the can) and his gang, had a fab time making terracotta nightlights as part of his 8th Birthday pottery party.
