New Sponges!!
In this age of throw away consumer durable madness, we like to get maximum use from our tools and equipment. Our sponges are worked until they quite literally fall apart (and even then the bits go on for another month or so!). The appearance of well used and worn sponges in our buckets (more holes than sponge) is something that we've grown accustomed to. However, the sorry looking rags provide a source of fascination for the thousands of school children that we work with. I was struck and amused this week by the sheer volume of comments a 'new sponge' evoked in a class of Year One pupils at Badsey First School. No less than four children independently noticed the replacement.

Jon: "Yes D?"
D: "Nice sponge!"
